Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
Hebrews 9:2-14 I would much rather embrace life than moan at the side of death! As much as I engage in satisfying my passions, protecting my riches, and working tirelessly for success and fame, I am involved in ‘dead works’ that leave vestiges of destruction and decay within my conscience. On the other hand, as much as I live into the Beatitudes of Jesus and the other laws of God, my life becomes lively and my conscience purified of the dead-ends of shame and guilt. Thanks be to Christ Jesus who by virtue of his redeeming death can always again and again purify and bring life to my conscience, no matter how swollen or shrivelled it is. Am I really preferring lively works to dead works? Purify my conscience, Lord, from dead works. They should set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments. (Psalm 78) Accustom yourself continually to make many acts of love, for they enkindle and melt the soul. St. Teresa of Avila www.gospelmysteryoftheday.ca Soli gloriam dei.
