Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
Matthew 8:5-13 We all need healing – both collectively and as individuals, in heart and mind, if not in soul and strength (that is, in body). At the very least, we need to be better aligned with God’s holy will, in order to find more peace and joy, and that we might be more kind and mercy-full. How can this healing occur? Not by might, not by strength, and not even by effort, but rather by receiving the ‘Word made flesh’, that is Immanuel, Jesus, into every cell and corner of our beings. God ‘spoke’ the Word into human existence quietly as seed in the womb of a woman, preparing for birth and growing into the fullness of time first as child, and then as adult. In this way God speaks the Word into all the nooks and crannies of my being, as much as I allow the Holy Spirit of God into my existence, at all levels, in all ways. Have I, like the Roman Official and his daughter, received Jesus, by faith, into all of my being? Come, Lord Jesus. Only say the Word and my soul shall be healed. Lord God, help me receive your Word into my being and be healed. Come, O Lord. Visit us in peace. (Psalm 105) Come into my heart, Lord Jesus, There is room in my heart for Thee. Emily S.
