Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
Ephesians 2:1-10
I can expend much of my life searching for ‘what I’m supposed to do” and maintaining a lifestyle that is comfortable and secure. But what of the path of life that Jesus walks through the world, proclaiming the Good News of human redemption and doing Mercy? As a true follower of Jesus, I too need to do as Jesus did here on earth, both literally and figuratively, next best step, by next best step. My tasks are no less than those of Jesus: proclaiming the Good News (using words only as necessary, as St. Francis said), healing the sick, freeing the prisoners, and visiting those who sit in darkness. Like the Way of Jesus, this is a custom-made path for my life. Sometimes along this path I will meet sorrow and suffering, but truly it is the path of holiness and abundant life. Lord God, help me live, step by step, day by day, into the way of life you have prepared for me. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his name. (Psalm 100:4) It is better to keep silence and be something than to talk and be nothing. St. Ignatius of Antioch www.gospelmysteryoftheday.ca Soli gloriam dei.
