Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
John 20:11-21 To be able to dwell in the light of Christ, with all the wisdom, warmth and wellbeing of heart, mind, soul and strength that it encompasses, is the greatest privilege for any man, woman or child. How do I come into the light of Christ? Jesus tells us to ‘do what is true’. When I pray out of obligation I am not being true to my own heart. When I eat fast food fast to satiate driving hungers I am over-riding the design of my being. When I ‘do right’ with resentment or any kind of agenda for power and control, I am building a false and faulty presence in the world that is of my own design. But when I pray in heartfelt conversation with my Father in heaven, I am being true to the deep mystery of my being. When I eat, or consume anything, with a sense of gratitude and blessings, taking care to give as much as I receive, my heart, mind, soul and body are filled with the harmonics of God’s mercy. When I do right mindfully for the love of God, I am being true to God’s vision for human community and connections - with God, with the earth, with the people in my life, and with the world at large. Will I do what is true, or be false to my heritage as a beloved child of God? Holy Spirit of God, help me do what is true so I might come to the light of Christ. But those who do what is true come to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that their deeds have been done in God. (John 3:21) Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire!
