2 Samuel 24:2-17 Adoration: Christ Jesus, I commit myself into your hands... (Note a similar prayer of intercession below) Hands are used to make, to mold, to manipulate and to melt (frozen cheeks with body heat, and hardened hearts through caring touch). Without being mindful of the role of hands, I often debate about leaving myself ‘in the hands’ of this program, that employer, this person, or that relationship. But in reality, only God’s hands are broad enough to hold all the complexities of my being. Only God’s hands are strong enough to carry me through the storms of life. Only God’s hands are experienced enough (through eons of time, galaxies of space and an infinity of relationships) to know when, and where and with whom to place me. Am I ready to commit myself into the hands of God to be sculpted, shaped, and held secure? Lord God, I commit myself into your hands. You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with glad cries of deliverance. (Psalm 32:7) O Lord, I place myself in your hands and dedicate myself to you. Without being mindful of the power and limitations of my own hands, I often try to grasp to myself and to control my children, my spouse, siblings, parents, friends, co workers or even ‘enemies’. But in reality, only God’s hands are broad enough to hold all the complexities of anyone’s being. Only God’s hands are strong enough to carry anyone through the storms of life. Only God’s hands are experienced enough (through eons of time, galaxies of space and an infinity of relationships) to know when, and where and with whom to place or heal anyone. Am I ready to commit my loved ones or other acquaintances into the hands of God to be sculpted, shaped, and held secure? Lord God, I commit N. _____ into your hands. Soli gloriam dei .
