Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
Luke 11:27-28 There are so many words written, spoken and even virtual, swiriling around us today. Advertisements serving up human greed, video proclaiming violence and pornography, volumes of academic arguments: the list goes on and on. How can I find the words of God in all of the rubble of the human intellect gone mad? When I watch Jesus preaching, teaching and healing in the Judean countryside, or read the stories of the holy lives of the saints who have lived both B.C. and A.D., there I see and hear the word of God, and develop relationship with the One who love, forgives and sustains them in holiness and mercy. Then I receive the wisdom and courage or ‘heartfulness’ from the Holy Spirit to obey God’s word as a child does the guidance of his Father. It is my spiritual relationship as a child of God, not my status in humanity, that prompts me to align myself with God as I am designed to do. What words am I incorporating into my life? Holy Spirit, Help me hear the word of God and obey it. By the tender mercy of God the dawn from on high shall break upon us, to give light to those that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death and to guide our feet into the way of peace. (Psalm Luke 1: 78-79) The word of God is living and active, sharper than any tow-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul from spirit, joints from marrow; it is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
