Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
1 Kings 8:22-30
I sometimes walk with Christ in a detached manner, trailing behind him, or walking a few steps ahead of him, or even walking beside him with my focus on the scenery or other travelers on the journey of life. But when I walk with Jesus, as I do with a good friend, ‘with all my heart’, our relationship changes. I become aware of him at my side, I begin to see others and scenery with his eyes, and to walk in rhythm with his step. I rest when he rests, stop when he stops and match my pace to his as I strike out to ‘do’ something or go somewhere special. Then I begin to know this redeemer of mine, this Son of Man who is the Son of God, and the personification of light, and life and truth. Christ Jesus, let me walk with you with all my heart. My heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God. (Psalm 84:2) God does not look on the greatness of a soul, but the greatness of its humility. Saint John of the Cross Soli gloriam dei .
