Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
Colossians 1:1-8
I have heard the gospel. It is meant to bear the same fruit that was produced in the life of Jesus, and to continue to grow in me to bear more fruit in due season until the end of my life here on earth. Am I sufficiently attuned to the growth and fruits of the gospel in my life? Is the good news of Christ’s mercy, justice and peace always running as the ‘operating system’ of my thoughts, words and deeds? Holy Spirit let the gospel bear fruit and grow in me. The Lord sent me to bring good news to the poor and freedom to the prisoners. (Luke 4:18) “To live is to change, and to be perfect is to have changed often. 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11
The choices I make when I am awake affect the quality of my sleep! When passionate or pride-full thoughts have domineered my mind, careless words have slipped from my tongue or I have acted in angry or self-centerd ways, mind, body and soul collude to torture my sleep. But when I live with Christ Jesus, and connect well with him on a continual basis, as I do with others close to me, the thoughts I think, words I speak and actions I do will be influenced and motivated by his wisdom and his love. Then I will be able to rest (awake or asleep) in peace. Christ Jesus, awake or asleep, let me live with you. The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? (Psalm 27:1) “The proof of love is in the works.” St. Gregory the Great Soli ad gloriam dei |
