Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
Philippians 2:6-11
Holy Spirit of God, nurture in me the humility of Christ Jesus... _Humility is the foundation of love and of human dialogue. Without humility, I see the world in terms of me and them. With true humility I, like Christ, consider it not only just, but also a privilege to consider all of humanity as us. With deep humility at work, my connections with humankind and God remain dynamic and responsive –sensitive to the gifts to be received and given amongst us as the family of God. Holy Spirit of God, nurture in me the humility of Christ Jesus. He leads the humble in what is right and teaches the humble his way. (Psalm 25:9) Soli ad gloriam dei “Seek God in all things, and you shall find God by your side.” St. Peter Claver

Colossians 3:12-17
What is ruling [my] heart today? Overwhelming grief, anxious anticipation, impatience to accomplish tasks, strained finances, bitterness over broken relationships, inordinate passions, plans and projects –all vie for my heart’s focus. Will I let these tyrannies of the present rule my heart, and so my being, or will I welcome the peace of Christ, full as it is of continuing forgiveness, active mercy and trust in a Father’s wisdom and care? Christ Jesus, let your peace rule my heart. My soul is thirsting for God, for the living God. (Psalm 42) Soli ad gloriam dei “We cannot be saved by seeking only our own individual salvation. We need to look first to the good of others.” St. John Chrysostom Colossians 3:1-11
I can acquire all kinds of knowledge, especially in this age of technology! But knowledge ‘according to the image of [my] Creator’, is specialized, mysterious and acquirable only through the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit of God. As a human being, I am called to live into the image of Creator God that is stamped deep into my being. So often I can be caught up with the glitz and clatter of the world. But when I focus on the ‘things above’ where “my life is hidden with Christ in God” ,I gain knowledge and understanding about the Faith, Hope and Love of God, that lead to deep joy and unshakable peace. Holy Spirit, every minute of today, renew [me] in knowledge of things above, according to the image of [my] Creator. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; his greatness is unsearchable. ( Psalm 145) “Seek God in all things, and you shall find God by your side.” St. Peter Claver Soli ad gloriam dei Romans 8:28-30
When I am con-formed, (Latin: formed-with), with Jesus by our Creator God, who sees each one as son, as daughter, I am gently shaped and fashioned to be like Christ. As I submit to this new creation within, and through, my mind, soul and body, some habits are cut away, some mind-sets transformed, my spirit is freed and made strong, and my flesh stops leading the show to humbly follow and express the truth of God Saves (“Jesus”) and God With Us (“Emmanuel”). Lord God, conform me to the image of your Son, so that all things might work together for good within and through your love in me. I am the light of the world, says the Lord; whoever follows me will have the light of life. (John 8: 12) “Seek God in all things, and you shall find God by your side.” St. Peter Claver Soli ad gloriam dei Holy Spirit, fill me with the knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding.9/4/2015 Colossians 1:9-14
It is easy to say God’s will is not our will. But when I witness God’s will working out in my own life or circle of friends and family, through physical suffering, lack of employment, traumatic events leading to fear, rage or grief, am I content? Only when I stand back from the tyranny of the present, to view life knowledgeably as a whole, a story that is made complete by the grace of its Creator, am I able to proceed in Faith, Hope and Love, and peace, along my own journey. Holy Spirit, fill me with the knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. I am the light of the world, says the Lord; whoever follows me will have the light of life.
