Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
2 Peter 3:4-14www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+Peter+3%3A4-14&version=NIV From an early age we are taught to strive hard for what is important in life. Possessions, fame and success are the big three, but social justice (according to my way of thinking), institutional preservation (that serves my needs) and comfort and security (for me), are three more goals that consume human lives. But Jesus proposed a more excellent way that he passed on to his disciple and servant, Saint Peter, - the way of peace – with God, with others, and with ourselves. Striving to be ‘found at peace’ results in a particular kind of walk through life. That is a journey that Jesus modelled for us –a walk of holiness and Godly-ness in true humility born of repentance tempered by forgiveness and faithfulness. Will I waste my life striving for the things of this world, the flesh, and the devil? Or will I strive to be found at one with the Prince of Peace, Christ Jesus, our Lord, so that I recognize Him and He recognizes when he comes ‘to take us home’ ? Christ Jesus, help me walk in holiness and Godlly-ness, striving to be found at peace. As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness; when I awake I shall be satisfied, beholding your likeness . (Psalm 17:15) If we wish to make any progress as servants of God, we must begin every day of our life with new eagerness.
