Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
Matthew 9: 14-17
When I grasp onto the old familiar vestiges of days gone by, whether in memories, beliefs or habits, I run the risk of becoming calcified in heart and soul, and perhaps even body. Then I will be unable to accommodate the stretching of the Holy Spirit Jesus extends to me that is designed to renew my soul, and the world through my faithfulness to God. Instead, I’ll find that I ‘tear’ like a piece of old cloth, or ‘burst’ like an old wineskin and become an ineffective witness to the mercy of God. Am I willing for my faith, hope and love to constantly be challenged, and refreshed, in order to receive the ‘new wine’ of the Holy Spirit? Christ Jesus, help me refresh my life to be ready to receive the liveliness of your Holy Spirit.
I shall be filled with the vision of your glory. (Psalm 16)
I used to ask God to help me. Then I asked if I might help Him. I ended up by asking Him to do His work through me"
