Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
Acts 8:26-40
The message of our society is that I must live for myself and avoid suffering at any cost. By contrast, the message of Jesus is that my greatest fulfillment is to live for, with, and through him, not counting the cost. As Philip lived into his relationship with his risen Lord, he was transferred from place to place as the Lord had need of him to proclaim the good news to hearts that were open to the message of Jesus Christ. Am I so freely available to God that he can place me where people are most ready to receive his message of mercy? Christ Jesus, help me live not for myself, but for you, no matter what the cost. Let the sound of his praise be heard, who has kept us among the living, and has not let our feet slip. (Psalm 66) Some pruning comes unexpectedly and violently. Some comes gradually… Then we have more time for God and the things of God, and can give more attention to the sacred space within us.
