Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
Matthew 20:1-16 In the economy of the world, there is always some excuse to put celebrations, quiet times of contemplation and prayers with Creator at the bottom of a ‘to do’ list. Christ Jesus showed us a different set of values – cherish invitations to feasts and festivities, consider the lilies of the field and other signs of God in nature, and arise early from sleep to commune with God. In spite of, or perhaps because of, his death on a cross and his resurrection, Jesus had an undeniably full-filled and fruitful life, and continues to show us how to embrace the abundant life that God holds out to each of his sons and daughters. Invitations to feast in the nearer presence of the King of Creation are always there. Will I show up on time and appropriately garbed (with faith, hope and love) at all the feasts and events God is inviting me to? Holy Spirit, teach me how to respond to your invitation to abundant life. Steadfast love and faithfulness will meet... Human loyalty will reach up from the earth and God’s righteousness will look down from heaven. (Psalm 85:10-11) When the life of an individual or a family is rooted in that great tranquility of God’s order, when its ends are Christocentric, and Faith is an essential part of it, then joy, true laughter and real gaiety flower abundantly.
