Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
Gospel Mystery of the Day Tuesday, July 2, 2019
Good Morning! Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119) Genesis 19: 15-29 & Matthew 8:23-27 We all know that Jesus proved over and again that he is with us when we ask him for help, and yet how often each day do I struggle to believe that “God is with me”? Ages before, the disciples awakened our Lord as he slept in the bow of their boat during a sudden storm; they were frantic that even though he was with them, they would drown. And generations before that Lot, knowing that the society in which he was living was dangerous even for strangers, wakened to the presence of God with him in the form of two angels whom he welcomed into his home, his ‘boat’ ,during the storm of abject sin and iniquity that reigned in Sodom and Gomorrah. Both stories are reminders that God, who is ever present to the faithful, saves the ‘pure of heart’, often in surprising ways, no matter what storms thunder around us and rock our boats. What storm is raging through my life at this time? Will I ask for help from God who is always present to save me? Holy Spirit of Jesus, help me realize your help ever present in my life. Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually. (Psalm 105:4) “In that moment, I just broke down. I realized that there was a God, and he’d been there all along.
