Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
Luke 5: 12-16 This short passage of scripture succinctly states Jesus’ work on earth. It was simple: heal and pray. After healing a man with a ‘dreaded skin disease’ Jesus tended those who crowded around him, healing them and their loved ones. ‘Then he would withdraw to deserted places and pray’. I can picture Christ doing this day after day – healing and praying, praying and healing, everywhere, all the time. As a follower of Jesus, I am called to be constantly engaged in these two simple movements of life as well – bringing a healing glance, touch, or word into each circumstance, each relationship along my life’s journey, and then again aligning myself with the Grace and Truth of God through times of prayer so that I can go back out and heal by the grace of God. It is simple! – although it may not be easy. Will I commit myself to healing and praying as Jesus did? Holy Spirit of Jesus, help me heal and pray. May prayer be made for him continually... (Psalm 72:3) Act as if every day were the last of your life, and each action the last you perform.
