Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)

2 Timothy 3:1-16 As I pray the fifty verses of a rosary with our blessed Mother, I envision myself walking through a rose garden with her, learning how the roots and leaves, flowers and thorns of my own life are being cultivated by my Heavenly Father and her Son, by the Holy Spirit hovering in the mist and sunshine of her flowers garden… Our minds are constantly seeking to grasp onto something- be it resentment, revenge or recalculated expectations, the mysteries of creation – theology, biology, psychology or any one of the other ‘sciences -or the divine mysteries for which we are designed that are named faith, hope and love. And it is the mysteries of the incarnation and redemptive work of Christ Jesus that are the most transforming and so the most life-giving mysteries to grasp onto, to turn this way and that and to find the nuts of truth and mercy/ grace they contain. Will I ever fully understand any one of the thousands of mysteries contained in the joyful, sorrowful, luminous, or glorious mysteries circumscribed by the Church in the Holy Rosary? Will I, like Saints of all cultures on earth before me, let the mystery of the gift of faith that we have received at Baptism in-form my heart, mind, soul and strength through all the ways and days – and relationships – of my life? Holy Spirit of God, help me grasp firmly the mystery of faith. But for that very reason I received mercy, so that in me… Jesus Christ might display the utmost patience, making me an example to [all] those who would come to believe in him for eternal life. (1Tim 1:16) Just going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a car.
