Psalm 27 Living is a messy business! Hurt, harm, hatred and all other products of sin and human foolishness and passion gone wild can sometimes become the foremost , and even exclusive, themes of life. But the fact is, that is, the Truth is, the Alpha and Omega of the universe, Who is the Living God, our designer and the creator of all that is human. And eons of human experience consistently underscore the fact of God’s goodness and mercy for the living who “wait for the Lord, [are] strong, and [who] let [their] heart take courage. When I look for it, and seek it out, the Goodness of the Lord is actually all around me – the life in the eyes of a child, love in the eyes of a friend, a blue sky shining above scudding rain clouds, the cadences of restful music or a succinct phrase of scripture that brings my heart back to the face of God. All of these wonders of God’s goodness are present not only in heaven, but in the ‘land of the living’ in the present presence of this day before me. Will I spend my time today dodging the specters of sin, or will I trace the grace of God’s goodness? Will I engage the world, the flesh and the devil, or the Mercy and goodness of God? Holy Spirit of God, help me behold your goodness in the land of the living. The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? … I believe I shall see the goodness of God in the land of the living. (Psalm 27:13) Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God. Corrie Ten Boom Soli ad gloriam Dei - Gospel Mystery of the Day on FaceBook & www.gospelmysteryoftheday.ca
