Holy Spirit, help me participate in your Holy Nature…

2 Peter 1:1-7
“This is my Father’s world…All nature sings and ‘round me rings the music of the spheres…’ so sings a hymn praising God’s creation of the natural world.  Nature is all around us – ready to inspire, teach and comfort us at any point in our lives. But to benefit from the beauty and order of creation, I need to stop and ‘smell the flowers’, that is, take time to be-hold the wonders it holds out to each of our senses. I need to participate in the natural world, in order to engage its benefits in my own being.
 
Similarly the nature of God’s Holy Spirit surrounds us at all times urging us to engage and participate in ‘her’ holy attributes. St. Peter knew the riches of a life lived and informed in the Spirit:  love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness and self-control (Eph 5:22).  And he counselled the leaders of the young Churches in the first century to ‘support your faith with goodness, your goodness with knowledge, and knowledge with Self-control, and self-control with endurance, and endurance with godliness and godliness with mutual affection, and mutual affection with love.” This is how we can participate in the holy nature of the Holy Spirit of God ever present to us as much as we turn to God in prayer and meditation.
 
Will I ignore or participate in ‘nature’ and in ‘Nature” – that is will I participate in the natural world of our planet but more significantly in the Holy Nature of God our Father, in which we are designed to live, and move and have our being?  Holy Spirit of God, help me participate in your Holy Nature.
 
 
And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Spirit. (Acts 13:52)
 
This is my Father’s world, I rest me in the thought,
Of rocks and trees of skies and seas,
His hands these wonders wrought…
This is my Father’s world, O let me never forget
That though the wrong seems oft’ so strong,
God is the ruler yet.
