Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
Philippians 2:6-11 How on earth did Jesus, knowing that he would be tortured and crucified, push through his anxiety and walk towards Jerusalem? An incredible Son of Man who knew he was the King of Kings and Prince of Peace, surely should have taken better care of himself! But in obediently accepting the humbling, grumbling and complaints of all of humanity, Jesus demonstrated once and for all how we as God’s beloved human beings are to overcome shame and worry. He overcame his own anxieties and stress by embracing the humbling circumstances of being treated as a deranged criminal and remaining always obedient to his Father’s design for his life in the world. Am I, too, ready to embrace the humble circumstances of my life and to always be obedient to God’s merciful will, without complaining? Holy Spirit, help me be humbled and obedient to your merciful will. By this we came to know the love of God: that Christ laid down his life for us; so we ought to lay down our lives for one another.
