Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
Malachi 3: 1-4
Christ Jesus, refine and purify my heart ... Yes, I’m happy to present my life, heart, mind, soul and strength, to the Lord. But am I prepared for the paring, pruning and boiling it takes to clean out the impurities of self-indulgence, self-pity and self-referencing that I have going on in my life? I might find God cutting away weighty possessions here, reducing the promise of fame and success there, and heating up my life to a boiling point that allows impurities (those habits and ideas I have that are not really useful to me or others) to be skimmed off. Only as I submit to the gentle and sometimes not-so-gentle, refinements of the Lord’s hand in my life will I find that I am able to grow into the immensity of the relationship God has designed for me with him. Christ Jesus, refine and purify my heart. My eyes have seen your salvation, which you prepared in the sight of all peoples. (Luke 2:30 - 31) O Lord, I place myself in your hands and dedicate myself to you. Saint Benedict Soli gloriam dei .
