Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
Leviticus 19:1-18 & Psalm 19
As a human being made in the image of God, I am designed for love and mercy as described by the commandments, proverbs and beatitudes of scripture. Buffeted and blown around as I am by the winds of change and the chastisements of people and circumstances –‘who know not what they do’ – I can become exhausted in every fibre of my being. It is then that I need to home-in on the purity and perfection of God’s law of enduring love in truth, and truth in love. Today will I turn to creature comforts or to the lasting laws of God for refreshment and life-giving respite? Revive my soul, O Lord, with your law. The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is clear, enlightening the eyes. (Psalm 19) The main intention of my prayer is that God may help all of us to remain faithful to the great gift that we have received.
