Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
Baruch 4:5-29 & Psalm 69
Yes, at times my heart is heavy, conflicted, and choked with self-centredness and pride. Notably this dis-ease of heart is directly related to how much I have turned away from God, to become distracted by my own inclinations, passions, plans and projects. Often these are ‘good’ things, lauded and affirmed by society, but they keep me from the ‘best’ – which is being fully aligned, fully alive, in God’s truth and love. Thankfully, as much as I seek God and his mercy, all the people I meet, the places I go and the thoughts, words and actions that occur through my being, faulty as they may be, remind me of the song of Jesus and revive my heart. Lord God, let my heart revive as I seek you.
I am lowly and in pain; let your salvation, O God, protect me. I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify him with thanksgiving. (Psalm 69: 29, 30)
