Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
Genesis 21:5-20
Hagar was in a desperate place. She and her young child, Ishmael, were dehydrated and alone in a desert. What hope was there? Fear of the possibility of death by thirst gripped her heart. God’s response when she cried out to the Lord? An angel was sent to say, “Do not be afraid. God has heard your voices. Lift up the boy and hold him fast, for I will make a great nation of him.” It was then that Hagar’s eyes were opened to see the well of (desperately) needed water. What is it that I (desperately) fear? What is it that I (desperately) need? What is God’s (perfect) provision and where is it? Lord, help me not fear possibility but find your provision. Do not be unbelieving but believing. (John 20:27 ) A dead thing can go with the stream, but only a living thing can go against it. G.K.
