Lord God, help me guard my life according to your word.

1 Kings 3:4-13 & Psalm 119
 
I can guard my life according to all kinds of ideals, pressures and fears, allowing external factors to shape what I do, say and think, and so find myself being torn apart. But when I guard my life according to the word of God, I am responding to the ‘spiritual DNA’ that is stamped into my heart of hearts, my spirit.  God’s word keeps me true to the Creator’s design for my life, in harmony with my own identity as a child of God, and with the eternal songs of the angels and saints.  What safeguards am I nurturing in my life? What ‘operating system’ am I using to guide my life’s journey? Lord God, help me guard my life according to your word.

I delight in the way of your decrees as much as in all riches. (Psalm 119)
