Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
Isaiah 1, 1-5 & Matthew 8, 5-13
Neither present day society nor my own voice within will direct me to a committed and deliberate faith in God, such as the faith of the centurion who asked Jesus for the healing of his servant. Rather, deep faith is nurtured by God. “This is my beloved Son [Jesus]. Listen to him,” he speaks into our hearts. The Son likewise says, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” When I absorb the nature of Jesus by the presence and working of the Holy Spirit in my life, the Spirit in-forms –gives deep understanding of the mysteries of God and forms within me – the gift of faith in God’s ongoing creation of abundant life, healing and holiness within me and in others. Holy Spirit, inform [my] faith in God. Come, let us walk in the light of the Lord! (Isaiah 2:5)
