Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
James 3:13-18 Our work, flowing as it does from our skills, abilities and experiences is the gifting of the Holy Spirit for the salvation of the world. As much as I stridently insist on working in my own way to be successful or famous or to take into my own being as much money and gratitude as I can, I work out of my own understanding, or worse still, out of the ‘wisdom’ of the world and produce fruits of arrogance, anger, hatred, envy, licentiousness and self-centredness. But as much as I gently and humbly perform each small task of the moment, out of the wisdom of the Holy Spirit, my life can produce the fruits of the Spirit –love, joy peace, patience, faithfulness and self-discipline. Today, will I take the time to listen to the creative mercy of the Holy Spirit of God, and offer up my work in the Spirit of Jesus? Holy Spirit help me to work gently, out of your wisdom. For the Lord is righteous; he loves right deeds; the upright shall behold his face. (Psalm 11) With God, every moment is the moment of beginning again.
