Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
Genesis 22: 1-19 & Matthew 9: 1-8 Abraham with his son Isaac resolutely walked forward to a mountain top in Moriah to offer a sacrifice to God, not knowing how it would all turn out. He just knew that this was the best next step in his life. Similarly some friends of a paralyzed man put him on a stretcher to get him as close as possible to Jesus. They just knew that this was the next best step in their friend’s life. Abraham’s walk with the Lord resulted in him learning once and for all time that a sacrifice of faith, hope and love is what God desires. The ‘friends’ walk to God resulted in a paralyzed man being made whole in soul and body, and a quintessential story of Jesus’ style of holistic healing being etched into the collective memory of humanity. If I walk today truly in the presence of the Lord, in the land of the living, what might be the result? Holy Spirit, help me walk in the presence of the Lord in the land of the living. Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually. (Psalm 105:4) With God, every moment is the moment of beginning again... Faith walks simply, childlike, between the darkness of human life and the hope of what is to come.
