Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
A Blessed and Joyous Christmas Season and a Happy, Healthy and Holy New Year to you and your family! 1 John 2:29-3:6 It is water that cleanses us when we bathe or shower. Similarly, it is the Holy Spirit of God who enters into our beings and displaces the sin and darkness that so easily finds its way into us. But just as I choose to clean up after a day’s activity, so it is I who must choose to be purified spiritually. If I continually busy myself with everything the world demands, in the human chase for comfort, personal glory and possessions, there will be a ‘greasy build up’ of ‘dead skin’ of sin on my being. But when I deliberately take time to pray and to walk with God as Jesus did, I open myself to all kinds of circumstances and events –even challenges and persecutions – that the Holy Spirit can use to purify my heart, mind and soul. Am I as committed to cleansing my spirit as my body? Holy Spirit, help me purify myself, just as Jesus is pure. All who have this hope in Christ, purify themselves, just as he is pure. (I John 3:4) One who never stops talking cannot avoid falling into sin. St. Benedict of Nursia www.gospelmysteryoftheday.ca & Gospel Mystery of the Day on Facebook Soli ad gloriam Dei
