Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
1 Corinthians 10:14-22a
When I sit at table with our Living Lord, and partake of the ‘food’ and the ‘drink’ (life experiences) that he has chosen to serve me in his company, I can think of no better fare. And yet, I sometimes wander away from the table of the Lord, seeking new and scintillating experiences in life. It is then that I am most at risk of dining on foods and drink that do not agree with the nature of God imprinted within me – and make me soul-sick. Thankfully, through the mercy of God, I can come back to the table of the Lord and with humility ask again to partake of his simple yet nourishing feast of life. Am I willing to be content with the soul-food that Jesus distributes? Holy Spirit, help me partake only of the food of your table. What shall I return to the Lord for all his bounty to me. (Psalm 116:12 ) All that I am and all that I have comes from you; I give it all back to you to stand under your will alone. Your love and your mercy are enough for me. I ask for nothing more.
