Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
Romans 14:7-12
It takes a lot of time and energy to pass judgement on others. To judge others’ thoughts words and actions, I first need to introspectively study and measure my own behaviours, then critically study the behaviours of others, instruct them in the ‘right’ ways, monitor their behaviours, tell them that they have been weighed and found wanting by my version of ‘the truth for them’, keep reminding them of ‘the law’ and finally hand down a “guilty” verdict. This is exhausting work! The Holy Spirit of Jesus, however, calls me to freedom! Rather than exhausting myself making others stumble and fall, I can follow Jesus: loving God the Father and his beloved human beings with every moment and every breath of my life. I don’t need to judge anyone, not even myself. Holy Spirit, help me not pass judgement on others. God’s kingdom is not a matter of judgement but of the righteousness, peace and joy which the Holy Spirit gives. (Romans 14:17) The position of God has been taken and you did not get it.
