Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
2 Corinthians 8:7-15 When my focus in life is to preserve my time, energy and treasure and to reserve my abilities for projects of self-gain or self-preservation, my love becomes limited and rigid. But when I embrace God’s will for my time, talents and treasure, divine charity is able to run its course through my life to others. Then my love becomes as generous as God’s and can benefit anyone in my path –and produce the abundant fruits of patience, kindness and self-giving that I am designed to live. Am I willing to love as generously as Christ Jesus? Holy Spirit, help me be generous in love. ‘The one who had much did not have too much, and the one who had little did not have too little.’ (St. Paul quoting Exodus 16:18 in 2 Cor 8:15) The question to be asked is not what we should give to the poor, but when we will stop taking from the poor.
