Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
Haggai 2:1-9
How often have I, like the Israelites of old, been tempted to descend into the sinkhole of despair when problems seem insurmountable, plans are not attainable, and possibilities appear to be exhausted. But God speaks into our hearts, “Do not be afraid!”, “Do not fear”, “Do not be anxious”, “Take courage!”. Why? Because he is with us. “Do not be afraid,” said Jesus to his disciples before ascending into heaven, “Remember: I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matt 28:20). As I picture Jesus, the Son of God, with his hand on my shoulder, I am able to breathe in his presence and feel my heart steady to beat in rhythm with his. Christ Jesus, remind me to have courage because you are with me. O send your light and your truth; let them lead me. (Psalm 43: 3) Be wise, my soul, and trust in God alone, cling to God and cast your cares on God. St. Robert Bellarmine
