Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
1 John 4:7-10
There is no question about it: we are to love one another. Made in the image of God, we are designed to love – to love God and one another, one by one, this way and that way, all the time. But make no mistake. This love we are called to is not ‘nicey-nicey’. Let us remember that the love of God lived into by Jesus included lots of push back, daily discipline, giving away of self, and torture – and unprecedented resurrection. This love from God ‘has guts’, is founded on Truth, and endures through thick and thin, for all time. Christ Jesus, help us to love one another, because love is from God.
Then opening their treasure chests, they offered him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. (Matt 2)
