Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
Luke 9:51-56 Sometimes I forget that I have chosen to follow in the steps of my Master. Then I find myself getting side-tracked, choosing gregarious involvement and social happenings over the solitary and resolute walk with Jesus along the path of humility, courage and mercy on the way to “Jerusalem”, that is heaven. Like the disciples, I desire and even demand that those I meet along the way respect my journey and even applaud my efforts. But like Jesus, I am called by Father God to simply walk the walk, and shrug off any kind of talk, whether negative or positive. Whenever taunts or temptations beg for my attention, will I turn aside to tend to them, or will I keep my face and my feet set toward heaven, in the true discipline of a disciple of Christ? Christ Jesus, help me set my face and my feet toward heaven. “Let us go with you for we have heard that God is with you.” (Zechariah 8:23) For we brought nothing into the world, and so we can take nothing out of it.
