Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
John 3:16-21
“Those who do what is true come to the light,” said Jesus. Sometimes I am interested in coming to light, but still participate in the half-truths of society –you can get rich quick; a successful person is a smart person; or it is important to look after yourself first - or the truths that I fabricate on my own: if I get a higher paying job, I’ll be more successful; I am too busy to help others, etc. These half-truths and outright deceits derail me from the light of Christ. Only as I do what is aligned with the mercy of Christ, when I ‘do what is true’, will I be able to enter fully into the tremendous light and glory of Christ’s life. Moment by moment, am I ready to perceive and to do ‘what is true’, according to the mercy of God? Christ Jesus, help me do what is true and come to the light. My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad. (Psalm 34: ) Let us dance with delight in the Lord and let our hearts be filled with rejoicing, for eternal salvation has appeared on the earth, alleluia.
