Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
John 15: 12-17
The love of God is incomprehensible and full of mystery, and yet it is as tangible as a smile shared, a glance of appreciation, or the unspoken support of a helping hand. When I am hopeless, it is not theological arguments or intriguing programs that speak to me, but rather the connection with others and their kindnesses that engulf the darkness that threatens my soul. And these are the confined expressions of human love. The immeasurable love of God is even more life-giving and at once accepts and empowers me when I snuggle into its greatness and warmth. `This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.` Christ Jesus, draw me into your great love. My heart is steadfast, O God, in your steadfast love. (Psalm 57) The soul is in God and God in the soul, just as the fish is in the sea and the sea in the fish.
