Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
I Timothy 3:14-16 If Jesus were simply a good Master Teacher it would be enough to dutifully follow Him and use his wisdom to inform my life. But as the Son of God revealed in flesh, crucified to rise again, “seen by angels, proclaimed among Gentiles, believed in throughout the world, and taken up in glory”, I need to take time to contemplate who Jesus is. Then I will not simply use his wisdom, but will allow Christ Jesus to transform and heal my life, so that I, too, can live into the ‘designer life’ God has created me to embrace. Holy Spirit, help me behold the mystery of Christ Jesus. Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them.(Psalm 111:2) Let your religion be less of a theory and more of a love affair. G.K. Chesterton

I Tim 3:1-13 Christ Jesus, help me walk blamelessly with you ... When I walk blamelessly with Christ Jesus, it is not that I walk as a good woman, doing everything right, but rather that I am not constantly complaining and blaming others – or even God – for what is challenging me. When I consider myself to be good I can easily become ‘puffed up with conceit’. Christ calls us to be more forgiving and less self-righteous; more faith-full and less self-conscious; more a follower and less a self-made woman or man. Then I can be so familiar with humility that I will walk blamelessly along life’s journey –and will be able to minister to others in the name and the nature of Jesus. Christ Jesus, help me walk blamelessly with you. I will study the way that is blameless... I will walk with integrity of heart within my house. (Psalm 101:2) "I do not pray for success, I ask for faithfulness." St. Paul encourages Timothy and the Church “to pray everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions”. Do I have enough humility to pray for and be loved by all, by those of low estate as well as by those of high estate? Do I have enough humility to recognize that I can never myself proclaim, or even know, the whole Truth that was made incarnate in the life of Christ Jesus? When I have enough humility, I will be able to pray ‘properly’ for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions, and for all of humanity. Holy Spirit, teach me humility in love and truth. O save your people, and bless your heritage; be their shepherd, and carry them forever. (Psalm 28:9) "Do things for others, not because of who they are, or what they do in return, but because of who you are.” St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta www.gospelmysteryoftheday.ca Soli gloriam dei. Philippians 2:6-11 Holy Spirit help me be humbled and obedient to your merciful will... How on earth did Jesus, knowing that he would be tortured and crucified, push through his anxiety and walk towards Jerusalem? An incredible Son of Man who knew he was the King of Kings and Prince of Peace, surely should have taken better care of himself! But in obediently accepting the humbling, grumbling and complaints of all of humanity, Jesus demonstrated once and for all how we as God’s beloved human beings are to overcome shame and worry. He overcame his own anxieties and stress by embracing the humbling circumstances of being treated as a deranged criminal and remaining always obedient to his Father’s design for his life in the world. Am I, too, ready to embrace the humble circumstances of my life and to always be obedient to God’s merciful will, without complaining? Holy Spirit, help me be humbled and obedient to your merciful will. By this we came to know the love of God: that Christ laid down his life for us; so we ought to lay down our lives for one another.
