Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119)
Most importantly, I need to look not back, but forward to the Lord and the journey ahead. Lord God, deliver me from evil.
Genesis 19:15-29 & Matt 8:23-27
Earth eruptions and storms at sea are not the only evils that befall. More serious, perhaps, are the evils human beings do to each other, causing untold disconnection, grief, and deep suffering in body, mind and spirit. God is always present to deliver us, when we ask, either by the intervention of angels, by the compassion of one of his servants on earth, or by ministering to our hearts and minds by the Holy Spirit of Jesus. From what evils do I need deliverance? How is God responding to my cry of “Help me! God!” Most importantly, I need to look not back, but forward to the Lord and the journey ahead. Lord God, deliver me from evil.
But as for me, I walk in my integrity; redeem me, and be gracious to me, my foot stands on level ground; in the great congregation I will bless the Lord. (Psalm 26:11,12)
